Life FM Newsletter Nov 2006: Progress At Last
Finally we have the planning permission to use the building in Togher as a radio studio. We have completed the negotiations on the lease of the premises and building work on the studios has started. Our first priority is to get the sound proof studios completed. These require double walls to ensure no external noise gets in. Also special

Life FM Newsletter Jun 2006: Progress – Slow but Steady
We never said getting a radio station on air would be easy, but the board and volunteers have been working away getting things in place. At the end of May we met with the BCI (Broadcasting comission of Ireland) to report on progress. They are waiting to see the complete Board of Directors elected from all the churches and these ratified at our AGM in October. Some churches have held elections and others are in the process. Our thanks to all of you who have signed up as members and may we encourage many more to consider becoming members. No time like the present to fill up the enclosed form.

Life FM Newsletter Nov 2005: Braodcast Commission of Ireland (BCI) awards license to LifeFM
After many months of waiting our dream has come true.  Our application was lodged last October and since then we have been waiting for news.  On September 15, BCI announced that they have decided to award a licence to LifeFM in Cork.  This will be the first full time license for Christian Radio in Ireland.  It is both a privilege and blessing to be the first such station and yet the magnitude of such an undertaking,  providing programming seven days a week, is an onerous task.  We look forward to seeing God at work in this. We wish to offer our thanks to the many volunteers, friends and supporters who have helped us get this far – to those who prepared the application, those who served on committees, those who have supported us financially, those who have prayed and those who have helped in many other ways.  Our sincere thanks to all. Several other Christian groups are also applying for licences in other Cities and towns.  Spirit FM is operating on a temporary licence in Dublin at weekends.  Dundalk, Carlow and Athlone have applied for licences for Christian Radio but unfortunately have been refused.  We hope they can apply again and that they will be successful the next time around. But now we need to turn our attention to the task of getting the radio station on air.  We estimate this will take about 9 – 12 months.  We first need to raise get the funding in place.  Then we need to find a suitable building for a studio, get planning permission and then construct the sound proof studios inside and install all the necessary equipment.  We will need to find a building we can buy or rent for the duration of the licence (5 years), we need money for the rent, for construction, for equipment, etc.  We need volunteers that can help with the work, the organisation, the office work, and the fund raising

LifeFM Called To Oral Hearing by Broadcast Commission of Ireland (BCI)

The wait is over.  We have passed through the first stage in our application for a licence.  The standard of the application was such that the BCI have called us to an oral hearing to present our case.  We will also have to face questions from their team regarding the contents of the application.  This is a major achievement as both applicants for the licence in Galway were rejected by the BCI.  However, the pressure is now on to prove that we can actually set up and run a radio station.
